From Threshing Fields to Financial Expertise: A Journey Spanning Generations.

The Watson/Morris Family's Century-Long Commitment to Agriculture

In 1903 the Watson/Morris family began servicing the agriculture community by offering custom threshing to farms in the Queensville, Ontario area. This involved threshing in the field in the summer with their steam powered traction engine, and barn threshing all winter. With a grain binder, the wheat was bundled in sheaves, and stored in the mow of the barn, then later thrashed. Robert Morris’ grandfather Albert Watson led this venture until 1928 when he retired.

Starting in 1944 until 1954 Robert’s father James Morris provided custom trucking (droving) of livestock to the Toronto livestock markets. As this was prior to the livestock marketing boards, James bought the livestock from the producers and resold it at the livestock markets. From 1956 until 1966, James owned and operated a mink ranch in Ravenshoe, Ontario.

Robert began working for Master Feeds in 1967 developing feeding programs for mink, poultry, dairy cattle, hogs and selling feed. He helped area farmers obtain financing for setting them up in larger, more economical ventures. The financial projecting skills Robert developed putting farm projections together drew him to the Toronto Dominion bank in 1974. He worked at the TD Bank until 1986 when he started the Insurance Brokerage you know today. Presently, the company is run by Robert’s son, Sheldon Morris.

Sheldon Morris

President

Sheldon obtained his Bachelor of Engineering Science from the University of Western Ontario, and has subsequently received his P.Eng, RIBO level 3 and LLQP qualifications. He began his career as a Paint Equipment Engineer at Honda Canada in Alliston, and then worked as in Product Engineering on new model Civic electrical system design. In 2009 he joined General Dynamics Land Systems Canada working on the electrical development of the light armoured vehicles. In 2015, Sheldon joined Morris Insurance.

Robert Morris

Vice President – Life Products

Robert quit high school at the end of age 12 to assist in the operation of the family mink ranch. He returned to school by enrolling at the Ontario Agricultural College (Guelph) in a 4 year program in animal science. After graduation he joined Master Feeds to assist in the sales of various types of livestock feeds. A successful sale frequently involved providing assistance to the farmer for the construction of new poultry or hog farms. Bob then worked for TD Bank as an agrologist before starting Morris Insurance in 1986.

Melanie Valle

Development Lead

Melanie grew up in Woodstock, Ontario. She enjoys gardening, live music, and spending time with family and friends. In her spare time Melanie is painting portraits with oil on canvas and tending to her gardens/indoor plants. Melanie is a recent graduate from Humber College where she attained a diploma in Interior Decorating. She has worked in administration and sales for the past 5 years giving her a great deal of customer service experience. She began her role at Morris Insurance in July 2022.

Sandra Fascinato

Lead Life Broker

Sandra obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Guelph. She has subsequently obtained her Culinary Management Diploma from Fanshawe College and her LLQP license. She loves helping others, baking, nature and spending time with family. Sandra is married, has a 12-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son. She has worked in finance and insurance for over 17 years. Sandra brings her wealth of knowledge and compassion for others to her role at Morris Insurance.

Yasmien Saleem

Life Insurance Advisor

Yasmien spent her early years in Dubai before returning to Ontario, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree from Western University. She began her career in medical research, helping develop treatments for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Seeking a more personal impact, Yasmien transitioned into financial services and completed her Certified Financial Planner studies. Many financial planners begin with investments, but Yasmien chose to start where true security begins: with insurance. In 2025, she joined Morris Insurance and obtained her LLQP license to protect clients’ wealth and peace of mind, because even the best financial strategies can unravel without a safety net.

Geolvana Martinez

Personal Lines Lead

Geolvana graduated from Medical Office administration at Fanshawe College. she worked in several medical offices. In July 2018 she joined Morris Insurance where she started working as Operation Leads. Since then, she has obtained her Ribo and Life license. After a year of obtaining additional insurance experience Geolvana rejoined Morris Insurance in 2023.

Emma Moir

Marketing and Administration

Emma attended Toronto Metropolitan University, where she earned a Bachelor of Design in Fashion Communications. With nearly five years of marketing experience, Emma brings a strong passion for branding and a deep interest in building meaningful connections with clients and customers through creative media strategies. She joined Morris Insurance in June 2025, excited to contribute her skills in communication, design, and digital engagement to the team.

Martina Blanco

Insurance Broker

Martina moved to Canada in 2021 from Italy, where she studied Economics and Sociology. Martina has gained exceptional customer service skills from her career in Canada, which is complemented by the multicultural setting in which she has frequently worked. Martina is currently enrolled at Fanshawe College in Human Resources and Management. Her career at Morris Insurance began in March 2024, and allowed her to develop a passion for the insurance industry and obtain her RIBO license. She loves cars, art, music and experimenting with new recipes from different cultures.

Luis Suarez

Farm Lines Lead

Luis grew up in Colombia where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Financial Engineering. He loves numbers, Baseball and spending time with his family. He is married and has a 7 years-old son. He loves being in Canada. He has worked in the banking and insurance industry for over 12 years. He began his role at Morris Insurance in November 2022.

Bohdan Pidvysitskyi

Insurance Broker

Bohdan moved to Canada in January 2022 from Ukraine. He is a huge fan of soccer and played professionally during his teenage years. After finishing his Bachelor’s in International Business, he moved to London to pursue his master’s in digital management at Ivey business school. Bohdan has almost 4 years of Sales and quality assurance experience, but always had an interest in the insurance industry after working on multiple projects with different insurance companies. Bohdan started at Morris Insurance in 2024, and has since gained his RIBO certification.

Erick Salazar

Erick grew up in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He has almost 10 years of experience in Accounting and Finance. In his spare time, Erick loves to spend time with his family and friends, visiting new places and helping at the local church. He has just finished his Business-Accounting program at Fanshawe College. He began his role at Morris Insurance in February 2025.
